Choir and orchestra

1. Project 2. Music Staff 3. Application form 4. Practical informations

One of the main things about Juventutem will be music which will be everywhere.

We really believe that art and especially sacred music do a lot for God’s glory and for one’s spirituality. God is beautiful, and this is seen through the splendour of liturgy!

So let us make it happen, and do come and join our choirs! Some of the very best professional singers and musicians will be there for you so that you can give your very best and offer God songs of praises

What is on offer?! What is on offer?!

In Cologne, we will sing four services almost everyday (prime, mass, vespers, and compline). Those services will be all solemn and entirely in music, and we very much hope that everyone will be able to take part and sing. There will also be some evening musical gatherings, spiritual concerts, etc.

So there will be a choir made up of pilgrims (Juventutem Pilgrims Choir), who, like you, will come there from every part of the world to sing God’s glory. We will sing a “best of” of international hymns, some chant (all should at least take part in the singing of psalms, and everyone will have the opportunity to learn how to do this) and there will be some opportunity for those who show appropriate ability to sing some polyphonic music.

Those of us who play an instrument may also want to join our orchestra to accompany some of the motets as well! The more the merrier!

Rehearsals and talks on particular repertoire will take place daily in Bavaria to prepare what will be sung and plaid in Cologne. In Cologne, choir members will also rehearse daily to prepare those services for the next day.

Also, in Cologne, there will be a professional choir in residence, the Juventutem Consort. The very best English singers (from Westminster Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, the Oratory, King’s College…) will come and sing for most ceremonies, and you will have the opportunity to pray on some of the very best music ever written for the Roman Liturgy.

So do not wait, be not shy, bring in your friends, fill in the application form, and come and sing!

Jubilate Deo omnis terra !
